Feral Process

Over the coming months I will lay out some strategies that keep my creative process alive and inspiring.

Strategy 1: Write to paint or paint to write

I use image making and writing to explore and explain the Feral State story world. The techniques I use include collage, paintings, written prose and storyboarding. These processes feed off each other in a symbiotic way. Each time I jump from one medium or technique to another I make new discoveries. The re-interpretation of prose to collage allows for the layering of symbolic meaning. Likewise to write from a painting gives me not only something concrete to describe but also allows my imagination to run wild, filling in the unseen spaces. It feels like I am using both sides of my brain to fully explore my subject matter and this gives the project layers of depth and meaning. In my Studio I never feel trapped or bogged down by problems as I always have alternative techniques or processes to explore.
